I have a small obsession. I love babushka dolls! I find them simply irresistible! How can you not? They are colorful, pretty, practical (they nestle into one another, saving on space- how clever!) and so whimsical. They put a smile on my face!

Blowing in the past
Montreal was the host of the Summer Olympics in 1976. One of the participating countries was the GDR- the German Democratic Republic. It won a lot of medals during those Olympics and the former country's flag still blows in the wind in our Olympic village next to the current German flag.

Just because....
... a picture of Gustav. He is simply too cute!
It has been a really busy few weeks, which explains the lack of updates on this blog (not that anyone actually reads be!), but I promise to update soon! Until then, enjoy the cuteness!!!

Delicious German tradition
Germans sure do know the good life! On the week-ends, it is tradition in Germany to have a piece of cake and coffee in the afternoon, usually with friends and family, as a way to reunite everyone for some good times and a chance to catch up. Bakeries are full with wonderful pieces of cakes of all sorts, meaning that everyone can have whatever their hearts desire. Here in Canada, afternoon coffee and cake is not so popular, as cake is mostly eaten as dessert, after dinner. But, to keep the tradition going, R. and I sometimes indulge in a delicious piece of gâteau with a drop of espresso- la Dolce Vita!
