Practical- and good looking- idea

I had this when I was living in Berlin. My room, in the flat I was sharing with three other people, was nice, but a little bare. One day, I had the brilliant idea to hammer two nails in the walls, running the length of the wall, and to attach a string to them, on which I would hang all the wonderful cards and other knick-knacks I picked up around the city. It gave my room a wonderful look, and reminded me everyday of the things I liked.
Yesterday, I decided to do the same here, in my little buro, and it took no time at all for the strings to be filled with things!
It looks great!

German ingenuity!

Look what R. made me a few weeks ago!!! Isn't it pretty?! Our kitchen is not the biggest and counter space is rare, so it's a hassle to bring a cookbook in the kitchen and to try to follow the recipe while preparing everything for it. So R. decided to make me this very practical and esthetically good-looking book holder, to make my life easier in the kitchen. As I am mostly the one who cooks in the house, I think he thought of it as a good investment for him!!!! If you are not using a book, you can clap down the holder, reducing the space it takes up. It's great!
